Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach-Tana Siebert

Tana Siebert has been coaching all skill levels and ages in volleyball for the past twenty years.  Most recently for Lincoln High School, AP Giannini Middle School, SF Juniors, and St. Brendans.  She also teaches Physical Education and loves the sport of volleyball.  After playing volleyball at the collegiate level and winning the conference two years in a row, Tana understands the hard work, dedication, and commitment it takes from players to develop skills, learn team strategies, and bring athletes together for a common goal. 

Assistant Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach-Liz Tom

Coach Liz will be entering her 4th year at SF Waldorf. Coach Liz first joined us in 2009 as a 7th Grade Girls Volleyball Coach and has beeing moving up the ranks every year. She will be stepping into a new role this year as Assistant Varsity Coach after spending one season as the Junior Varsity Coach.  Coach Liz has played volleyball for many years and has been coaching for several years for the San Francisco Juniors Club teams.  

Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach-Katie Hutchinson 

Katie Hutchinson moved to San Francisco from Toronto, Ontario, Canada late last year. While teaching in Ontario, Katie coached both the boys and girls school volleyball teams. In addition to school teams, Katie headed up a skills training camp called SPIKES for the Ontario Volleyball Association which served as an off-season conditioning program for teenagers in club volleyball. At the University of Toronto, Katie led the Leaders in Training Program through their Physical Education Department, where she worked with young athletes to develop confidence, sportsmanship, character based leadership skills along with core volleyball skills. Katie has worked with youth from all walks of life both in and away from the sport.  Katie comes from a long line of volleyball players in her family and has played volleyball her whole life throughout high school and club and later on the tri-campus teams at the University of Toronto. Since, coming to San Francisco, Katie continues to play in a competitive Women's League that she assists in organizing. She looks forward to a fun and exciting year with the Junior Varsity Girls team. 

Frosh/Soph Girls Volleyball Coach-Cody Fusco 

Cody Fusco graduated from Mount Ida College (Newton, Mass) with a degree in Sports Management and played volleyball all four years as a setter and right side hitter. Coach Cody began her volleyball journey in 7th grade at the Waldorf Grade School and participated in many camps and clinics. She went on to play Varsity Volleyball for Waldorf High School from 2003-2007.  For the setter position she was awarded 2nd team All-League BCL West for the 2005 season, and 1st team All League BCL Central seasons 2006 and 2007. In her 4 years of Waldorf competition the team remained undefeated in the regular season three out of the four years, as well as going on to win a total of three Championships. During her junior and senior year she co-captained the team to victory, going on to make dual appearance in the North Central Sectional. Coach Cody developed a love for coaching, as well by volunteering to assist the 8th grade Waldorf volleyball team (GS class of 2008, HS class of 2012).

She played off-season club volleyball for Slainte (2005) Tremors (2007) and San Francisco Juniors (2008). While in college, she continued with the Club Volleyball experience from the coaching side and also helped run clinics and camps on weekend during the off-season, for Smash volleyball club.

Her college experience was very exciting and continued to develop her as a leader. In college she was voted Most Improved Player her freshman year, Most Valuable Player her junior year and was honored as the captain her senior year.

She is very excited about coaching and developing this Freshman/Sophomore team, but more over she is thrilled to be back on the Waldorf team!

Varsity Boys & Girls Soccer Coach-Nasser Abdulkariem

Nasser has been the girl’s varsity soccer coach at SF Waldorf since 2002 and comes with over 30 years of playing and 15+ years of coaching experience. He captained his high school team in San Jose, CA as well as a number of club teams.  Nasser played his collegiate soccer as a midfielder for San Francisco State University. Nasser also, played semi-professional soccer for the San Francisco Bay Diablos for two years before focusing on becoming a soccer coach at the high school level. Nasser is certified through the California Interscholastic Federation and his U.S. Soccer E Licensee and is currently working on his D License.

In his first four seasons at the helm, Nasser helped build the soccer team into a leading program and to a historic 9-3-1 season and  becoming BCL West Division II Champions for the first time in school history. Three seasons later in 2008, the team replicated it’s record 9 wins and finished runner up in the Championship game.  The following year in 2009, the team was playing in its 3rd final appearance in 5 seasons and cemented it’s program as an annual playoff contender. In 2010 we added our first ever JV team to our soccer program and now carry the largest roster in team sports.

Boys/Girls Cross Country Coach-Scott Merrall

Coach Scott Merrall ran competitively for 10 years. He began his running career as a freshman in HS, and continued through college and beyond.  In HS, he ran 3 yrs cross country and track & field, culminated as finalist in Central Coast Section 800m championships as a senior where he recorded his personal best time of 1:59.  He also ran Bay to Breakers, Dipsea, Sundry Road races and 10ks, including one marathon.  In college he was member of Northern California powerhouse West Valley College, winners of 14 consecutive Golden Gate Conference championships, 2 Golden Gate Conference championship teams, two-times second place team in Nor Cal Championships, his teams finished 9th and 5th in the state championships.  In college he also ran track & field and competed primarily in 800 and 1500 meters, occasionally 4x400 relay team with an 800 personal best of 1:56.  He also recorded a personal best in 1500 meters in Golden Gate Conference championships placing third with a time of 3:57, which qualified him to be a Nor Cal finalist.  He joins SF Waldorf High School after having served as Assistant Cross Country Coach for Saratoga HS and as Head Track & Field Coach at Sacramento Waldorf HS.  

Varsity Girls Basketball Coach-Theresa Goodwin 

Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach-Marianne Bautista

Marianne Bautista is returning to Waldorf High School for a second season.  After a year away from Waldorf, she is very excited to be back as the assistant coach.  Prior to coming to Waldorf High School, Marianne coached elementary and middle school girls basketball.  Marianne graduated from Notre Dame de Namur University where she earned a BA in Sociology with an emphasis in Behavior Science.  Marianne is currently working as a Mental Health Counselor for Youth in San Francisco.

Varsity Boys Basketball Coach-Gus Arnold

Coach Gus continues his life-long love of basketball as Head Varsity Coach
for the Waldorf Wolverines this upcoming season. A native New Yorker,
Gus captained his varsity team at Brooklyn Friends High School. During
the last 10 years, he has coached from the CYO level to high school,
most recently as the frosh coach for Marin Academy in 2010-2011. Gus is
also a San Francisco tour guide in his spare time.

Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach-Tom Romano

 

Varsity Boys Baseball Coach-Josh Allain

 Josh Allain began his coaching career at SF Waldorf
in 2011 as the head coach of the varisty baseball team.  In this season
he led the team to the school's first ever NCS victory while finishing
as the runner up in the divisional playoff.  Josh went on to become the
assistant varsity soccer and basketball coach in the 2011-12 season.  In
2012, Josh became the Assistant Athletic Director.  He oversees the SF Waldorf Grade School Athletic program and supports Bryan Anderson, Athletic Director, at the High School.

Assistant Varsity Boys Baseball Coach-Bryan Anderson 
Bryan Anderson began his allegiance with the SF Waldorf School as the Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach in Spring 2010.  Furthering his contributions to the school, he added the role of Assistant Athletic Director in the Fall 2010.  Currently, Bryan is the Athletic Director at SF Waldorf High School.  Bryan played collegiate football at the University of Chicago.
