Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach-Serah Pele
Coach Serah Pele begins her second year at the SF Waldorf HS as head varsity volleyball coach. Prior to Waldorf, she has coached JV and Varsity teams for Terra Nova high school as well as club teams ranging in ages from 12-16 years old. She currently coaches at 650 Xtreme Volleyball club in San Mateo County. Serah recently graduated from Bethany College in Lindsborg,
Kansas where she earned a volleyball scholarship and received a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. During her time at Bethany as an outside hitter, she was ranked in the top 15 players of the conference for kills, kills per set, hitting percentage, and blocking. As a coach, she believes in teaching the proper fundamentals and concepts of the sport to enhance players’ knowledge of the game and improve their performance. Outside of Waldorf, Serah serves as a Numeric Operations Analyst at Visa Inc. and continues to play in competitive women’s leagues around the Bay Area. She is looking forward to a fun and promising season with the varsity Wolverines!
Varsity Girls Volleyball Assistant Coach-Liz Tom
Coach Liz will be entering her 5th year at SF Waldorf. Coach Liz first joined us in 2009 as a 7th Grade Girls Volleyball Coach and has been moving up the ranks every year. She will continue this season as the Assistant Varsity Coach. Coach Liz has played volleyball for many years and has been coaching for several years for the San Francisco Juniors Club teams.

Coach Nick is working on his degree at City College. He has many athletic accomplishments but lists his most memorable as making his high school varsity team in his first season of volleyball and being named captain of his collegiate team. His true passion however is coaching. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge of the game and love of the sport with the next generation of student-athletes.
Varsity Boys & Girls Soccer Head Coach-Nasser Abdulkariem
Nasser has been the girl’s varsity soccer coach at SF Waldorf since 2002 and comes with over 30 years of playing and 15+ years of coaching experience. He captained his high school team in San Jose, CA as well as a number of club teams. Nasser played his collegiate soccer as a midfielder for San Francisco State University. Nasser also, played semi-professional soccer for the San Francisco Bay Diablos for two years before focusing on becoming a soccer coach at the high school level. Nasser is certified through the California Interscholastic Federation and his U.S. Soccer E Licensee and is currently working on his D License.
In his first four seasons at the helm, Nasser helped build the soccer team into a leading program and to a historic 9-3-1 season and becoming BCL West Division II Champions for the first time in school history. Three seasons later in 2008, the team replicated it’s record 9 wins and finished runner up in the Championship game. The following year in 2009, the team was playing in its 3rdfinal appearance in 5 seasons and cemented it’s program as an annual playoff contender. In 2010 we added our first ever JV team to our soccer program and now carry the largest roster in team sports.

Coach Rachael Corea enters her first year at the SF Waldorf HS as Assistant Varsity Girls Soccer Coach. Rachael comes with many years of competitive playing experience at both the high school and club soccer levels in Southern California. She is excited to begin her coaching career at Waldorf and looks forward to a successful season.
Boys/Girls Cross Country Coach-Tom Ashby
Tom Ashby participated on the varsity cross country and track teams all four years at Castro Valley High School. His running talents were noticed and was recruited to run for San Francisco State University. Tom is currently majoring in Kinesiology and continues to run. His coaching experience began with the assistant coaching role at Castro Valley Track Club for three summers. This lead to an opportunity at Lowell High School where he was the assistant coach of the track team in the spring of 2013.

Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach-Sid Guzman
Sid is a certified Master Teacher who has taught High School Health and Physical Education the past 22 years. He is a seasoned and internationally experienced Basketball Coach, coaching at all levels both professionally and nationally. Sid considers himself fortunate to Coach both the Guam Men's and Women's National Teams (at different times), and was able to lead both the Jr. (U19) and Sr. National Basketball programs at different times during his career. He has coached many teams and participated in numerous local, regional, and international competitions at all levels from youth to adults, high school to club teams. Some of the countries aside from the U.S that he has been fortunate to Coach in or against have been Australia, New Zealand, China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Okinawa, Philippines, Fiji, Tahiti, American Samoa, Hawaii, New Caledonia, and Papua New Guinea; all within the FIBA OCEANIA and FIBA ASIA regions.

Varsity Boys Baseball Head Coach-Josh Allain
Josh Allain began his coaching career at SF Waldorf in 2011 as the head coach of the varsity baseball team. In this season he led the team to the school's first ever NCS victory while finishing as the runner up in the divisional playoff. Josh went on to become the assistant varsity soccer and basketball coach in the 2011-12 season. In 2012, Josh became the Assistant Athletic Director. He oversees the SF Waldorf Grade School Athletic program and supports Bryan Anderson, Athletic Director, at the High School.
Varsity Boys Baseball Assistant Coach-Kyle Walenga
Coach Kyle returns to SFWHS following his graduation from Knox College (Galesburg, IL) last spring. At Knox, Kyle studied environmental studies and Spanish. He played on the varsity baseball team for four years competing at the NCAA Division III level. Kyle helped lead the Prairie Fire to a school record for wins in a season his senior year. Kyle was also elected a team
captain and all-conference shortstop as a senior.
A member of the SFWHS Class of 2009, Kyle played soccer, basketball, and baseball for the Wolverines, and was a member of the fútbol squad that brought home the school’s first conference title in soccer his senior season. In addition to coaching at Waldorf, Kyle coaches private youth baseball clinics around the city and at the Presidio YMCA. Kyle also hopes to become actively involved in San Francisco’s burgeoning urban agriculture movement.
