The Grade School will be participating in a gift drive for the Curry Senior Center.
The Curry Senior Center provides a safe place to receive geriatric health services for low income seniors in San Francisco. Founded in 1972, Curry provides primary medical care, substance abuse services, case management, congregate meals, social/community programs, and 13 units of housing for formerly homeless seniors. The Curry Center's mission is to provide these services to seniors while allowing them to maintain their independence and dignity. Many of the senior clients are homeless, or come from low-income backgrounds and live alone in the Tenderloin and South of Market neighborhoods in San Francisco. The gift bags that our gift drive will go towards, and holiday party the Center holds may be their only chance to celebrate this Holiday season.
We will be collecting the following items for the Center:
- Hygiene Items: Toothpaste and toothbrushes; Soap; Shampoo; Deodorant.
- Clothing Items: Socks; Gloves; Hats; T-Shirts; Rain Ponchos.
- (Most of these items are available at Walgreens for under $5).
- Last Day for donating these items is the morning of Monday, December 12th.
The children will be making greeting cards to include in the gift bags. If you are moved to make some cards at home, you can pick up blank ones from Melinda. We will make about 400 cards!!
If you have any questions or comments, please contact Melinda at the Grade School.
