Community

San Francisco Waldorf School is a community where kindness, belonging, and respect are valued and practiced.

Our school’s identity and culture is deeply tied to our home in San Francisco, a place celebrated worldwide for its creativity, diversity, and innovation. Students, parents, guardians, extended family, alum, faculty, staff, and friends all form part of our rich, multigenerational community. Like the city that surrounds us, San Francisco Waldorf School honors and embraces diverse backgrounds, values, and voices.

Community Events

Every year at San Francisco Waldorf School, students and their families gather for beloved annual events, including seasonal festivals, musical and theatrical performances, fundraising events, athletics, and other community gatherings. Parent/Guardian Leadership

At SFWS, we see education as a partnership between school and family. Parents/guardians, grandparents, and extended family are an important and beloved part of the San Francisco Waldorf School community, supporting our school’s continued excellence in many essential ways, from serving on the Board of Trustees to helping to execute keynote fundraising events like the annual Winter Fair to serving on the Parents Guild and Parents Council. Waldorf in the City

Like the city in which our school is located, our school is driven by both tradition and innovation. Located on two beautiful campuses in the heart of urban San Francisco, our school is a reflection of our home: creative, forward-thinking, and bold. Close to the Presidio, the Pacific Ocean, and several beautiful green spaces, our students explore the natural environment that defines the Bay Area while celebrating the vibrant culture that surrounds us. The residential West Portal neighborhood is home to our High School’s ADA-accessible and LEED-certified campus, surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops, public transportation, and parks within walking distance, including the verdant Stern Grove recreational complex and park. Learn more about our school’s deep roots in San Francisco.

Alum Association

As one of the largest Waldorf schools in North America, our school has an extensive alum network in the Bay Area and across the world. Our former students and their families are represented in diverse professional fields, from arts and politics to finance and tech. Bolstered by the lifelong friendships built at our school, our alum continue to collaborate, celebrate, and support San Francisco Waldorf School and its students, long after graduation.

The Alum Association is open to all former San Francisco Waldorf School students. No matter how long it’s been or where you live today, we’d love to hear from you! Read more about our alum or to join the SFWS Alum Association.
