Our Teachers

Nursery teachers are experts in early childhood development and Waldorf educational methods. Each classroom has a lead teacher and an assistant teacher.

Heidi Schwarzenbach is the founding Nursery Program Director and Lead Teacher for Elves Corner. She has been at San Francisco Waldorf School since 1999. Heidi graduated from Colgate University with degrees in English Literature and Biology. She completed the Rudolf Steiner College teacher training program and is certified by the State of California. She is an avid cycler who enjoys ocean swimming, backpacking, and reading. Her twin sons attended San Francisco Waldorf School from kindergarten through 12th grade.

Nichola Clark is the Lead Teacher for Elves Cottage and was a founding teacher of the Nursery program. Nichola was born and raised in Lincolnshire, England and is a graduate of Rudolf Steiner College. Her interest in Waldorf education grew after she stepped into a kindergarten and saw how the children were content and extremely capable in this environment. Nicola enjoys taking time out to explore nature with her husband and two young children, as well as sailing, cycling, and travel.

Susanna von Rombs is an Assistant Teacher at Elves Corner. Susanna was born and raised in Munich, Germany and attended Ludwig Maximilian University, where she completed a bachelor's degree in Special Education. Before moving to the US, she worked in public relations with a start-up company and completed a goldsmith apprenticeship. She is a graduate of the Bay Area Center for Waldorf Teacher Training. She enjoys baking, knitting, gardening and exploring nature with her family. Susanna's three sons attend San Francisco Waldorf School.

Monique Grund, the school's founding kindergarten teacher, assists in Elves Corner.
Diana Garcia-Blanco is an additional assistant for Elves Corner.

Early Childhood Development
